Photoshopping! Using masks and blending modes

This workshop proved successful, learnt many new tools and I stayed on after the workshop session to do a second, more intricate collage to represent a sense of the Brazilian lifestyle and culture. I’ve included the Favelas, Palm trees, clippings of Ipanema and Copacabana patterned pavings along the beach, a Toucan and exotic fruits including passion fruit, coconuts and pineapples.

Below is the first collage I compiled using Photoshop, getting a hang of the layers, exploring different tools such as the magnetic field and quick selection tool, as well as learning shortcuts proved really useful! I feel that this workshop would have been better done at the very beginning instead of the end of the project as it’s important and useful for development practice.
